Bibles: reading scripture, from medieval to early modern

The Society's third one-day conference took place on 15th October 2011 and was hosted by the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Liverpool. It investigated the history of the Bible, ranging across the medieval and early modern period, in particular addressing issues of exegesis and textual transmission. The speakers included Gerda Heydemann (Vienna), Mayke de Jong (Utrecht), Damien Kempf (Liverpool), Lucy Kostyanovsky (London), Cornelia Linde (London), Jinty Nelson (London), Eyal Poleg (Edinburgh) and Eva de Visscher (Oxford). The Society also provided travel grants to assist graduates wishing to attend the conference.
